With a Baroque Christmas scene.
Of Abbess Agnes of Orlamünde (d.1354), attributed to the Wolfskeel Master (after the sculpture of Prince Bishop Wolfskeel in Würzburg Cathedral); a masterpiece of late medieval sculpture.
Sandstone (1617), with inscription relating to baptism, chalice, coat of arms, and rosettes.
On chancel arch: of Margrave Christian Ernst; he had the monastery converted to a hunting lodge and had the convent church refashioned in Baroque style (stucco by B. Quadri, 1699).
In the 'Nuns' Hall', with precious exhibits from the late Gothic church, such as the painted panels (picture) from the former screen, later incorporated into the floor, and from the margrave period: e.g. the heraldic wall hangings of Margrave Christian (1621); and the processional cross carried at the burials of two margraves in 1735 and 1769.
Of Otto VI. of Orlamünde (1297-1340), attributed to the Wolfskeel Master (after the sculpture of Prince Bishop Wolfskeel in Würzburg Cathedral); a masterpiece of late medieval sculpture.
Circa 1490; possibly attached to the chancel arch earlier, as in many Gothic churches.
From the workshop of E. Räntz (1718/24); with the exception of St John, the four Evangelists near the pulpit body (with the Cross of the Order) hold open books displaying the words of the Last Supper; above them, in a triumphal arch, stands the Risen One with two worshipping angels; and high above all is the triangle in a halo of rays of light and of angels.
with many late Gothic sculptures: NB in particular the musician angels in the spaces between the ribs of the net rib vaulting (1473).
