Made by E. Räntz, painted by J. H. Schertel (1710/11); the skilfully constructed altarpiece portrays the life of Jesus: from the two Christmas scenes at the base, to the three-dimensional Last Supper room, the Crucifixion and the Resurrection to the Ascension of Christ in a golden halo of rays of light. St Peter and St Paul and the four Evangelists flank the scenes as witnesses, and angels proclaim Jesus' deeds and hold the margravial arms in the centre. On the back of the altar the names of the donors are recorded together with their financial contributions.

Several layers of these, dating from 1st half 15C (Crucifixion group, Madonna in halo of rays of light, St Kümmernis, Last Judgment and Apostles) to 1510 (St Christopher); especially worthy of note: 'Volto Santo' ('Holy Face', medieval picture with miraculous powers) and 'Spielmannswunder' (Miracle of the Minstrel, medieval Italian legend).
